Meeting set to discuss comprehensive plan

A meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, June 8, at Town Hall, for an update on the Argyle Comprehensive Plan. Staff will also begin the public feedback process.

The city's current comprehensive plan is scheduled to be updated. The goal of the plan

is to reflect the vision of a community. It identifies priorities as the Town develops, such as preserving the rural character and balancing residential/non-residential development. The plan also provides actionable strategies so that growth and conservation are in a coordinated manner.

Officials are encouraging public participation in the process and hope for a positive, collaborative discussion about the existing plan, along with items to be updated. There will be a focus on major corridors in Argyle and the types of uses the community would like to see as the Town develops.

Master Gardeners offer update on Unity Park improvement project

The Denton County Master Gardeners Association has been working on improvements at Unity Park and recently provided Town staff with an update for its progress so far this year.

The mural on the side of the shed is awesome and is worth driving to the park to get an up-close view of the work of art.  The art students at Argyle High School Arts Honor Society have made an incredible contribution to the community.  We can't thank them enough.

Projects on the books for possible completion this year:

  • Enhancing the pavilion area to include hardscaping and adding large planters in the area close in to the pavilion.  Currently waiting on the hardscaping before we purchase the planters and start the planting process.
  •  Hardscaping around the Eagle tree to complete that project.  Currently waiting on vendor to proceed.
  • Tree planting on the east and west side of the park. Scheduled for early fall using the town's reforestation funds.
  • Developing the Monarch Waystation - currently waiting on quotes for ground preparation
