PROTECT YOUR BIKE
- Register your bicycle serial number with the local Police Department.
- Lock your bicycle with a wheel or chain lock when it is unattended.
- If you must leave it unlocked, leave it where someone can watch over it.
- Put your bike in a locked storage area at night, or when it's not in use.
- For quick identification of your bike, letter your name on the underside of the saddle,
and paint a distinctive band on the frame.
- Report bicycle thefts promptly to the police.

Ten Bicycle Rules Of The Road
| RULES |
UNDERSTANDING THE RULES |
| OBEY TRAFFIC LAWS |
Know your local traffic laws and obey them. They usually apply to bikes too. |
| STAY TO THE RIGHT |
Keep to the right of the road. Do not weave in and out of traffic. |
| RIDE SINGLE FILE |
Always ride in a single file with plenty of space between bikes. |
| WALK IT ACROSS |
At busy intersections, get off your bike and walk it across. Never dart into traffic. |
| USE YOUR LIGHT AT NIGHT |
When riding your bicycle at night, make sure that the light is always on. |
| USE A CARRIER |
Don't try to carry packages or books in your arms when riding your bike. Use a carrier
or basket. |
| ONE TO A BIKE |
Carrying someone as a passenger can make your handling and control of the bike very
difficult. |
| DON'T BE A SHOWOFF |
Fancy bike riding could prove fatal. Don't try and see how many tricks you can do
while riding in traffic. |
| USE HAND SIGNALS |
- Left Turn: Left arm extended straight out from body.
- Right Turn: Left arm extended with forearm and hand pointing up in the
shape of an "L".
- Stop: Left arm extended with forearm and hand pointing down.
|
| NEVER HITCHHIKE |
Don't hold onto a moving vehicle. |
