In 2007, the Town realized the need for full time financial management of its fiscal resources and in September approved the position of Town Accountant/Budget Analyst with the adoption of the FY 08 budget. The creation of this department consolidated all financial functions previously conducted by a combination of the Town Administrator, Town Secretary and accounting consultants. The department is responsible for the management of all financial operations of the Town. These include accounting, budget, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash and investment management, external requests for financial information, as well as development of policies and procedures relating to fiscal operations. Additionally, the Finance Department handles all accounting for the Town’s three local option sales tax funds – Argyle Economic Development Corporation, Argyle Crime Control Prevention District, and the street maintenance sales revenue.
