Animal Control
Animal Control is a function of the Argyle Police Department and is currently provided through a private contractor, Brian Hall, aka, “Brian the Animal Guy”. The following are the services provided by contract through Brian Hall.
Wildlife Removal
Argyle is country living at its best and with that brings unwelcome visitors from time to time. From the lumbering possum, to the crafty raccoon, or a the slippery snake, Officer Hall handles most wildlife situations using live traps and other methods to safely remove wild animals for residents.
Argyle Ordinances
Leash (confinement) Law
Town ordinance prohibits dogs “running at large.” Dogs must be kept confined to their owner’s property, or on a leash if off their owner’s property. Cats are exempt from this requirement.
Rabies/Registration Tags
State law requires all dogs and cats to be up current on their rabies vaccinations. Animal should wear their rabies tag. A free pet registration program has been implemented making it easy to register your pet.
All dogs and cats must be registered with the Town.
Take your pet’s proof of current rabies vaccinication information into Argyle Police Department or to Chisholm Oaks or Argyle Vet Clinic to receive a registration tag. Your pet’s information will be entered into a computer for a reference that may be used by Animal Control to locate the pet owner.
The laws are in place to protect your pets, your property and your neighbor’s pet and property.
