Hey Guy Media 1

This month, we talked with Cameron Penn, Managing Parter at Hey Guy Media, about the content marketing and video production agency located right here in Argyle. Read on to learn more about the talented team behind creative content for some of the world's biggest brands, agencies, nonprofits, and more.

Q: How did your business get started?

Cameron: We actually started
Hey Guy Media 15 years ago making movies and TV pilots for HBO, F/X, Lionsgate and Disney. That includes Bratz: The Movie, but don’t hold that against us!

When the economy turned sideways in 2008, we turned the company into what it is now: a commercial and corporate production company that specializes in digital, social and mobile content. Most of our clients were looking for new ways to market themselves and their brands. When they asked us if we did social media marketing, we said “sure, we do.” The reality was, we were learning just like everyone else but we weren’t going to let our clients walk to a competitor. We listened and we hired the right people. And now we work with Fortune 100 companies, global ad and PR agencies and non-profits, right along with small start-ups and local businesses.

Q: What's one unique thing that your business is known for, and why? What would you like the residents of Argyle to know about your business?

Cameron: We’re probably best known for our responsiveness and our customer service. Period. Most of the folks we work with have been with us at least a dozen years and they’re no longer just clients — many have become close friends. A lot of that has to do with the amount of time we spend getting to know them and their brands.

What we want the folks of Argyle to know is while we made our mark with some insanely large companies, we work with every size business. Even if you’re only looking for a sounding board or a voice of reason, that’s what we do.

Q: Why did you choose to locate in Argyle?

Cameron: We’ve had offices in every corner of the country to support the business. The move to Argyle was 100% family and we did it for for the community. It took us two years to finally get here but it was well worth it. And the business followed. We’re not only close enough to respond quickly to our clients in the metroplex, but we can also pull from really deep talent pools in DFW as well as Denton.

Q: What's your favorite part of living and/or working in Argyle?

Cameron: The people. We’ve been here only three years, but it feels like home, especially for our kids and that’s what really matters.

Q: What does the future look like for your business?

Cameron: As I’m writing this, Denton County’s under a stay-at-home order so it’s tough to say! We’re wondering, like everyone else. But we’re fortunate that we’ve built a broad client base, from industries that tend to hold up well even in down economies. Lessons learned from 2008, I guess you could say. We’re also adding new elements constantly— website design, graphic design, still photography, you name it. If it’s related to media, we probably do it.

Q: What's one interesting fact about you or your business?

Cameron: We’ve been extremely fortunate to work with twelve Oscar-winning actors and win a couple of national Emmys along the way. But before we ever got started, the company name came from Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the creators of South Park. They would
never address us by name, they would only yell “hey guys!” It stuck.

Salon377 of Argyle

Posted on December 13, 2019 at 2:01 PM by Haley Pittman

This month, we talked with Shelby Black, owner of Salon377, about the opening of Argyle’s newest hair salon. Learn more about Salon377’s sustainable beauty services in the heart of Argyle!

IMG_0315Q: How did your business get started?

Shelby:
My family relocated from Colorado to Texas and chose Argyle for the small town feel and great schools. We loved how the pace of life seemed to be slower here and that the town is family-oriented and fun!

Two years ago, I came across the Commons at Argyle Town Square and instantly began to dream of opening my own salon there. It wasn’t possible at the time, but fast forward to November 5th of this year, and my dream is now reality and is flourishing. I feel extremely blessed and amazed to be where I am at today.

Q: Why did you choose to locate in Argyle?Group photo of Salon377 Staff

Shelby: I chose Argyle as the place to open my salon because first, I just love this little town, and second, I am a huge believer in supporting your local community.

When I envisioned my salon, I saw a place for women to come, relax and feel beautiful. I saw a place for men and children to come where they felt comfortable and would get the best cut. I saw a place where I could support my local community and do what I love. It’s a win-win.

IMG_0785Q: What would you like Argyle residents to know about your business?

Shelby: If I could share one thing with Argyle residents, I would want them to know that at Salon377, we believe in sustainable beauty. We believe you can have beauty and be healthy at the same time.

Our product line is eco-friendly and leaves your hair feeling truly amazing. It’s by far the best product line I have ever worked with. I am very proud to be a Davines distributor.

Q: What does the future look like for your business?

Shelby: I am a driven girl! I love doing hair, but I also love growing people and businesses. I see my salon growing in size and community impact. Women spend a lot of time on beauty and I want to be a part of delivering the best there is right here in our amazing town of Argyle.

Q: What's one interesting fact about you or your business?

Shelby: An interesting fact about me is that I grew up in Southern California, but always felt I was a Texan at heart. Texas has truly become home. An interesting fact about the salon is I found the building, converted it into a salon, and open for business all within a month and half. I guess you can say when I want something, I go after it.
